Obituary of Margaret Maas

Margaret Mary Maas, age 90, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 in Briody Health Care Facility in Lockport after an illness of several weeks. A lifetime resident of Lockport, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Irene Gibbs Murphy. Her brother, James D. Murphy, predeceased her in 2000. Margaret was a 1941 graduate of Lockport High School and a 1942 graduate of the former St. Joseph's Business Institute of Lockport. She worked for many years as a secretary, retail sales, and a pharmacist's assistant at Lockport Hospital, retiring in 1990. She loved her family, especially her six great-grandchildren, and playing cards with her friends.
Margaret was married to the late Donald J. Landrigan from 1944 until his death in 1984 and to Richard I. Maas from 1993 until his death in 1999. She is survived by two sons, Michael J. (Julie) Landrigan of Arlington, VA and Thomas D. (Diane) Landrigan of Bowling Green, KY, and her son-in-law, Michael J. Flaherty of Lockport. Her daughter, Diane I. Flaherty, predeceased her in 2004. She is also survived by five grandsons: Michael and Joseph (Teri) Flaherty, Thomas (Anne), Matthew (Sara), and Gregory (Penny) Landrigan; and six great-grandchildren, Patrick and Benjamin Flaherty, Sophia and Angelo Landrigan, and Lyda and Magnolia Landrigan.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, October 27th from 2 to 6 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport on Monday, October 28th at 10 AM. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
