Obituary of Eugene Szpilewski

Eugene Szpilewski passed away October 17, 2013 in Orchard Manor, Medina, NY. Born in Bialystock, Poland on May 28, 1940 he was the son of Boleslaw and Albina (Wiernikowski) Szpilewski. Eugene worked for 19 years at GM Foundry in Tonawanda where he was a supervisor retiring in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors, farming and gardening, shooting pool, bartending at the family bar, The Ski Lodge, watching hockey, working on cars, riding motorcycle and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 49 years Felicia (Czekaj) Szpilewski of Lockport; father of Robert (Lisa) Szpilewski, Steven (Heather) Szpilewski, Thomas Szpilewski all of Lockport and the late Joseph Szpilewski; grandfather of Morgan, Kennedy, Braelyn, Krystian and Peyton; brother of Bruno (Irene) Szpilewski, Walter (Michelle) Szpilewski, Aniela (late Bill) Gruszewski, Alina Szpilewski all of St. Catherines, Ontario and Valerie (Charles) Merritt of Mexico; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, Oct. 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Oct. 21st at 10 AM in Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 5442 Tonawanda Creek Rd. North, Lockport. Entombment will be in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum.
