Obituary of Joan Gresart

Joan Elizabeth Gresart, a longtime resident of Lockport, died peacefully on Sunday October 13, 2013, at the Odd Fellows and Rebekah Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Herman Gresart and Frances (nee Briggs) Gresart. She attended school in Niagara Falls, NY.
She was predeceased by her brother Herman Gresart and sisters Frances "Peggy" Rolfe and Betty Lane; step father, George Sanney and several step brothers and sisters. Joan is survived by her sons, Christopher (Sandra) Gresart and William Gresart, both of Lockport, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; she is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Joan worked and the Bickford Box Company, Kendzie's Lounge and the Salvation Army, where she retired from in 1999. She was well known in the Lockport community through her work at the Salvation Army, and her volunteering after retirement at the Salvation Army/ Sister Loretto Soup Kitchen and at the First Baptist Church. She liked spending time with her friends and family and taking walks. During her time as the Salvation Army League of Mercy Secretary, she visited and took gifts to people in local hospitals, nursing homes and institutions. She touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed.
Friends may call Wednesday 3 to 5 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, followed immediately by a funeral service at 5 PM.
