Obituary of Katherine Reid

Katherine W. Reid, devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and great aunt and a lifelong resident of Lockport passed away Sunday in Lockport at the age of 92. Katherine or Todd or Kitty as her friends and colleagues called her enjoyed a rich life with family, friends, business, travel and volunteer work. Born at home on Stevens Street in Lockport to the late William V. and Mary K. White (Finn) she attended St. Patrick&amp;#39;s School and the Old Lockport High School graduating in 1939, then continued her education at St. Joseph&amp;#39;s Business Academy. Afterwards, she joined the Harrison Radiator Company, working in the payroll department at the main plant for 17 years and through WWII until retiring to raise her family. She married J. Ward Reid, Jr. in 1949 and worked part time at Reid&amp;#39;s Hot Dog Stand for many years in addition to managing payroll for Reid Petroleum during the 1950&amp;#39;s and 1960&amp;#39;s. Todd also served as the corporate secretary for the oil companies during this period. After retirement from this work in the mid-1970&amp;#39;s Todd dedicated 30+ years to Meals on Wheels- -helping until age 89. Also a lifelong parishioner at St. Patrick&amp;#39;s Church- -All Saints Parish- -she served many decades with the Ladies of Charity and with the Altar and Rosary AssociatioD. An avid sports fan, Todd rarely missed a Notre Dame or Bills game and even drove to South Bend for a game with her sister Rosemary when she was in her 70&amp;#39;s. Todd is survived by two sons, Paul (Katie) of Lockport and Robert (Lisa) of Albany; four grandchildren, Steve, Meredith, Elizabeth and Emily. Todd was predeceased by a grandson Mark and her sister Rosemary (Harley) Hughes. Also survived by many loving and devoted nieces and nephews all of whom supported her in her final month . Friends may call Thursday, September 26th from 4-8 PM in Prudden &amp; Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 27th at 11AM at All Saints Parish of St. Patrick&amp;#39;s Church, 76 Church Street, Lockport. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum. Memorials may be sent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of WNY, 1775 Wherle Drive, Suite 150, Williamsville, NY 14221, would be appreciated by the family.
