Frank Andrew Maser passed away on September 6, 2013. Born November 24, 1924 in Port Vue, PA. He was the son of John & Lydia Maser. Frank was a World War II veteran. After returning from Europe he married Margery Pitzer in 1950. She passed away in October 2009, just a few months short of 60 years together.
Frank began his career in broadcast engineering at WMCK radio in Mckeesport, PA. Later, he joined the engineering department at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, PA. He was promoted to Chief Engineer and held that position for Westinghouse Broadcasting until 1967 when an opportunity opened up in Buffalo, NY at then WBEN TV & Radio. He was the Director of Engineering at WBEN until the end of 1978. During his time there, the studios were re-built, a color mobile unit was designed and purchased for use at local sporting and community events as well as being used for national sporting events. The country's first commercial satellite TV operation was put into place under Frank's direction.
In 1979 Frank opened a printing franchise called Sir Speedy Printing and operated the business until mid 1994. After his retirement, Frank drove for Carrier Coach for 10 years.
During his years in Buffalo, he was a member of the Randall Baptist ChurGh in Williamsville. In later years he was a member of the Lockport Alliance Church where he attended and served since 1998. Frank was a member of Gideon's International and a charter member of the Amherst North Rotary Club where he received a Paul Harris Fellow Award.
He was an avid Buffalo Bill's fan who was hoping someday to see a Super Bowl champion team. He played golf and loved taking care of his family.
Frank is survived by his four sons David E. (Marta) Maser of Helena, MT, Allan S. (Michele) Maser of Amherst, John L. Maser of Lockport and Raymond S. (Deborah) Maser of Kenmore; grandfather of Frank D., Gregory E., Matthew A., Kassandra I. and Aaron J. Maser; great grandfather of Tristin F. Maser; and several nieces and nephews. Frank is predeceased by his nine siblings.
Friends may call Wednesday 5:30 to 7:30 PM in the Lockport Alliance Church, 555 Davison Rd, Lockport, NY, where services will immediately follow at 7:30 PM. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh, PA. Memorials to The Gideons International, 124 East Avenue, Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated by the family.
