Lockport resident Mollie Shearer, 58, died June 29th, 2013, after battling cancer. Mollie was born January 24th, 1955 in Lockport, New York and was a lifelong area resident. She is survived by her former husband, Roger Sherrie; her children, Alec Christopher Sherrie, Lydia Grace Sherrie, and Emma Potter Sherrie; her sisters, Dale Nikitas and Rebecca Defazio; her nephews, Paul Nikitas, Stephen Nikitas, and Peter Defazio; her niece, Jessica Laymen; her great nieces and nephews, Lily Defazio, Cora Defazio, Charles Layman, Avaleigh Layman, Shea Nikitas, Zachery Nikitas, and Madeline Nikitas; her "two best girls," dogs Sophie and Winnie, and many, many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion "Potter" Hennessee and Donald "Doc" Shearer as well as her brother, Christopher Shearer.
As a member of the Kenan Arts Council, Mollie was best known for her love of music, literature, and the arts. She was an avid gardener, who spent much of her free time cultivating beauty in her backyard. With her beautiful sense of humor, Mollie will be remembered as a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5th at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home located at 242 Genesee Street in Lockport, New York. All are welcome.
