Obituary of John Taylor

John P. Taylor, of Lockport, NY, passed away after a short illness on Friday June 28, 2013, in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. He was born on April 14, 1919 in Phelps, NY, the son of the late Charles and Rose (nee Wheeler) Taylor.
John moved to Dansville, NY in the 7th grade and graduated from Dansville High School. He served his country from 1941-1945 in the 8th Division of the US Army Signal Corp. He recently participated in the "Honor Flight" to Washington DC. Upon his he went to work for NY Telephone, in Lockport, where he retired after 36 years. He was a member of the American Legion and was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder. He was also a member of the City of Lockport Zoning Board, for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie (nee Kennedy) Taylor of 71 years. Surviving also are his children; son Jack (Jean), daughter Linda, and predeceased by his son Jim (Ursula) and brothers Paul and Bob. John is also survived by his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Tricia, Susan, Molly, Teresa, Ron and Mike; great grandchildren, Megan, Caitlin, Erin, Tommy, Clara Jean, Jack, Cole, Maddie, Emmy, Jonathan, Marissa and Nick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. John will be sadly missed by Riley.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Monday July 1st, in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, Inc., 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A funeral service will be held Tuesday July 2nd at 11 AM in First Presbyterian Church, 21 Church Street, Lockport, NY 14094. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church, would be appreciated by the family.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday July 2nd at 11 AM in First Presbyterian Church, 21 Church Street, Lockport, NY 14094.

Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
