Obituary of Sonja Raetz

Sonja Simons Raetz, 66, from Lake Orion, MI, was unexpectedly taken from her family on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Sonja was born on December 4, 1946 in Lockport, NY, where she lived prior to moving to Michigan. She was employed as a real estate broker with Real Living Great Lakes Realty. A high school graduate of Lockport, NY High School, Sonja obtained her BS in Computer Information Systems from Buffalo State College, while working full time as a factory worker for the now defunct Harrison Radiator, while also raising her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Sonja was an avid reader, loved crafts, boating, pleasure cruises, and traveling to her summer home in the 1000 Islands region in upstate New York. Sonja was predeceased by her parents, Gordon P. &amp; Audrey M. Simons. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, David J. Raetz , her sons, Dr. Randy G. Raetz (Allen Erway), and Gregory D. Raetz, her two grandsons, Spencer Raetz-Erway and Cooper Raetz-Erway, and a brother, Phillip R. Simons (Christa) and many nieces and nephews.
