Obituary of Rowland Blackley Sr.

Rowland F. Blackley Sr. passed away Thursday May 30, 2013 after a brief illness in Medina Memorial Hospital. Born April 17, 1929 in Lockport, he was the son of the late Carl and Ida Kirchman Blackley Sr. Rowland served in the US Army from 1951 until 1953, after be discharged from the service, he went to work at Harrison Radiator in Lockport, where he worked for over 30 years, retiring as a Test Tunnel Operator. He enjoyed genealogy, cars and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Rowland is predeceased by his wife, Audrey (nee Coakley) Blackley, who passed away March 26, 2007, his brother Richard Blackley and his infant brother David Blackley.
Rowland was the father of Rowland F. (Lisa) Blackley Jr., of Ashland, Ohio, David (Linda) Blackley of Lockport and Susan (Karen Marie) Blackley of Lancaster; grandfather of Katie, Luke, Whitney, Emma, William, Mary, Alice, Joseph, Michael and Charles. He is also survived by his brother Carl Blackley Jr. of Lockport, sister, Rosemary Bower of Lockport; brother-in-law Raymond (Jane) Coakley of Lockport and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Saturday evening 7 to 9 PM and Sunday 1 to 5 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, Inc., 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. The funeral service will be held Monday morning at 10 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, 67 Saxton Street, Lockport, NY 14094. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
