Helen Whitwell Obituary

Helen D. Whitwell passed away November 22, 2009 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane. Born June 23, 1906 in Lockport she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Dora (nee Lentz) Cameron. Helen was a teacher for Lockport School District and retired from the Royalton Hartland Central Schools in 1968 after 20 years of teaching. She was a member of the NYS Teachers Association, Eastern Star and the Dale Association. Helen was predeceased by her husband Ellsworth Whitwell in October 1991.


Helen is survived by her daughter Doris M. Whitwell of Lockport. She was the sister of the late Roy and Douglas Cameron. Helen is also survived by her "adopted" daughters Velma Young and Esther Reinbold.


There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 4, 2009 at 3:30 PM in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Avenue, Lockport. Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery. Helen's family wishes to thank all of her caregivers at Newfane Rehab & Health Care Facility. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 4, 2009 at 3:30 PM in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Avenue, Lockport.

Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery.
