M. Loraine Wilcox Jex passed away July 4th, 2009 in Lockport.
Born May 12, 1908 in Lockport, she was the daughter of George and Jennie Chambers Wilcox. Loraine married Nelson L. Jex in 1925, he predeceased her in 1962. Loraine worked at the Mohican Market before going to Lockport Memorial Hospital which then was known as City Hospital, as a nurse's aid. She was a lifelong member of the 2nd Presbyterian Church, the oldest Queen Esther Member and also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Angelus Chapter. Loraine is the mother of Frederick N. (Prudence) Jex , Gertrude J. Jex, Joanne F. (the late James) Fligger all of Lockport, Ronald F. (Marti) Jex of Cooperstown, NY and Nelsonia L. (James) Murphy of Niagara Falls, NY.; grandmother of many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. She is also the sister of the late Clarence Howard Wilcox and Edward Laverne Wilcox; sister-in law of Helen Jex Bewley and the late Freda Johnston, Gertrude Luff and Lorraine Jeffords.
Relative and friends may call Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee, Lockport, NY.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock in the 2nd Presbyterian Church, 71 Van Buren St., Lockport, NY.
Memorials to the church or Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.
