Obituary of Muriel A. Williamson
Muriel “Mike” Williamson, daughter of James and Anges Meiklejohn of Dunfermline, Scotland passed peacefully on June 24, 2019, she was just shy of her 94th birthday. James and Agnes immigrated to Lockport NY where they raised their 3 children James, George and Muriel. “Mike” attended public schools in Lockport and at an early age professed her love of sports and participated in both basketball and volleyball. Mike met her husband Joe, in school and shortly after graduation Joe went into the navy and fought in WWII. During that time she worked at Harrison Radiators. After the war, she and Joe married and they owned and operated Poor Wills hot dog/cider stand along with Joe’s brother and wife.
“Mike” eventually retired from her position she loved the most at the Cornerstone Credit Union.
Mike and Joe were married for 54 years, Joe proceeded her in death December, 2002. Together they raised 5 children, and sadly lost two of their sons, Richard and David to juvenile diabetes. “Mike” was always on the go, she was a dancer with the Lockport Center & Friends and performed many shows during the mid to late nineties. She loved music and she sang in the choir at Christ Episcopal church.
“Mike” bowled and golfed until she was age 90. She loved to cook and share her delights with friends and family. Her homemade apple pies, roast beef dinners were absolutely amazing.
Her beautiful life will live forever through the family she adored and cherished. Sons, Mike Williamson and wife Linda of Hendersonville, NC, Tim Williamson and wife Debbi of Winfield, IL, Richard Williamson (deceased), David Williamson (deceased) and daughter, Cindy Williamson and husband Mark Newman of Seattle, WA.; daughter-in-law Rhonda of Westlake, TX, the late David Williamson’s former wife. Mike’s grandchildren, Mike and wife Laura from Muncie, IN, Jeff and wife Kendra of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ryan Williamson and wife Jami of LaGrange, IL, Jamie Ford and husband Jared of Brisbane Australia, Cory Williamson and wife Angela of Trophy Club, TX ,Taylor Williamson and wife Brandy of Colleyville, TX, Canon Rupple, Hannah Rupple, and Meagan Newman all of Seattle, WA. “Mike” also had 13 great grandchildren. She was so proud of her children and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also had a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
“Mike” had a twinkle in her eye and a smile that would light up a room. She will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, July 7th from 1-4 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 8th at 11 AM in Christ Episcopal Church, Fieldcrest Dr. & Rochester Rd., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
