Irene E. Kalls entered into rest April 14, 2024 under the care of Niagara Hospice and her loving family. Born September 24, 1949 in Lockport, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Marion (Yanicki) Townsend. Irene earned her master's degree in business education and went on to supervise adult education at Orleans Niagara BOCES in Sanborn until her retirement. She was an active member of the Olcott Yacht Club and enjoyed spending time on Lake Ontario with family and friends. Irene also volunteered at the YWCA and Kenan Center.

Irene is survived by Jon Kalls, her beloved husband of 53 years; children Brian (Valerie) Kalls, Jason Kalls, and Katherine Kalls; grandchildren Conner Kalls, Brody Kalls, and Kolby Rance; sisters Pauline Barber and Maxine Townsend; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Lenore Townsend and brother Stanislaus Janicki, Sr.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, April 19th from 4-7 PM in Prudden And Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 20th, 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
