Donald J. Boyer Obituary

Donald J. Boyer, 89, of the Town of Amherst passed away peacefully at home under the care of Buffalo Hospice.  Born June 15, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late Sade (Conway) and Donald C. Boyer.  He was also predeceased by his sister, Judith Rushing of State College, PA.


Donald had been employed by New York Telephone for 37 years, retiring as an engineer on September 10, 1993.  While there he was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.  Don was a voracious reader.  He enjoyed flying his own plane that he owned for a few years and all the good times spent aboard his boat, the “Lily Pad II”.


Don is survived be his loving companion of 42 years, Sue Siemendorf; son Thomas (Gail) Boyer of Hamburg and daughter Laurie (Mark) Jentsch of Orchard Park; five grandchildren Christopher Boyer, Faith (Nick) Drew, Kaylee (Marshall) Brady, Michael (Kelley) Boyer, and Meghan Boyer; three great grandchildren Summer and Jesse Drew and Josiah Brady.


Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice Buffalo or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
