Glenda L. Ruhmel Obituary
Glenda L. Ruhmel passed away June 19, 2026 in Niagara Hospice House where she was cared for by some of the nurses she once trained. Born January 8, 1943 in Lockport she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Wilma (Pechuman) Peters. Glenda was a graduate of University at Buffalo and spent 45 years as a nurse including her longest role as Director of Nursing at Inter-Community Memorial Hospital in Newfane.
Glenda had a reputation known by all who encountered her—at the hospital or at home—for being the kindest, most genuine and positive person you will ever meet. Her greatest joy was simply making others feel welcomed and cared for—whether hosting family around the table, watching football on Sundays, listening to her son’s band play or spending time with her grandchildren—she was everyone’s biggest fan.
Glenda is survived by her husband of 58 years, William “Bill” Ruhmel; children Richard (Melissa) Ruhmel and Robin (Teddy) Abramson; grandchildren Jonah and Ella Abramson; sister Brenda (James) Krakowiak; nieces Jaime Krakowiak and Lindy (Jason) Weimer.
Relatives and friends are invited to a casual celebration of life on Tuesday, June 23rd from 4-7 PM at the Clubhouse at Willowbrook Golf Course where she called home, 4200 Lake Ave., Lockport.
