LeRoy P. Smith passed away on Friday May 29th, 2026. He was born in Kenmore on December 22nd, 1944 to the late George and Marjorie (Hitchcock) Smith. He spent many years working as a newspaper courier for the Courier Express and the Amherst Recreation Center. Leroy spent 27 years as a teacher in the Newfane Central School District, teaching both 5th and 6th Grade. When he wasn’t working, LeRoy loved spending his time gardening, hiking, taking walks in the woods, boating, vacationing in Maine, and was very dedicated to land and wildlife preservation.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 57 years Carla Porretta Smith. Sister Linda Smith, Sisters in-law Catherine Montedoro and Linda (Henry Jr.) Sperduti, and many beloved nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
