Zenon Kowal Obituary
Zenon Kowal passed away May 28, 2026 at Buffalo General Medical Center. Born July 27, 1946 in Munich, Germany he was the son of the late Walter and Rosalia (Klymowicz) Kowal. Zenon was a long-time resident of Lockport, NY and most recently resided at Absolut Care of Gasport.
Zenon volunteered for service in the US Marine Corps from 1964-1967 and went on to earn the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Iron Cross of Gallantry, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Mast, and Reserve Medal.
He worked as an electrician for the IBEW Union 237 of Niagara Falls, NY. Zenon was a dedicated and charismatic husband, father, Dido, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed woodworking, was an avid coin collector, liked to travel, enjoyed a good meal, and especially loved being “Dido” to his grandsons.
If you met him, he probably became your friend.
Zenon was predeceased by his wife Judith (Hale). He is survived by his daughter Nina (Steve Nowak) Kowal; grandsons Landon and Dawson Nowak; brother Bohdan (Jeannette) Kowal; niece Lesley Henderson, and dog Rufus.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Wednesday, June 10th from 4-7 PM at Prudden And Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport with Marine Honors to follow at 7 PM. In remembrance of Zenon’s life, expressions of sympathy may be made in flowers or honorary donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Niagara County SPCA. Zenon’s family would appreciate your fondest memories of him on the tribute wall.
