William J. Lennert Obituary

William James Lennert “Bill,” age 69 of Lockport, passed away May 25, 2026.  Born May 6, 1957, he was the son of Helene and the late Irving Lennert Sr.  Bill worked at ASARCO (American Smelting and Refining Company) from 1978-1989, where he acquired his journeyman papers to become skill trade as a machine repairman.  Then, he worked at Harrison Radiator/GM Power Train in Tonawanda, where he was a machine repairman, retiring in 2021.  He was a very active member of the UAW and was a board member of the Northern Erie Snow Seekers Club.  He enjoyed his tiki bar parties, riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, cruising/traveling with his wife Miriam, and spending time with his family and friends.  Bill built his first car at the age of 11 with his brother and rebuilt the 1989 Ford F-150 Blue truck, along with many other cars, trucks, and tractors over his lifetime.  He was always quick to lend a hand to help others out.  There was nothing he couldn’t fix!  He also built the house he lived in with his father and close family friends.

Bill is survived by his wife Miriam Portos-Lennert; children Amanda Justine Lennert Canna (Christopher) and Zach and Sabrina Ganshaw; grandchildren Danielle Schmitt (Peter), John Canna (Brittany), Joe Canna, and Isabella Canna; great grandchildren Peter, Harper, Angelina, and one on the way; siblings Irving Lennert Jr (Jackie), Chari Himmelsbach (Steve), Deb Conley (late Pat), Donald Lennert (Thob), and Melissa Bailey (Ron Brogan); and stepdad John Walker.  Also, Bill has many nieces and nephews.
