James A. Dunch, age 79, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Friday, May 22nd, 2026 while under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in North Tonawanda, NY, he was the son of the late Alex and Mildred (nee Nowak) Dunch.  James had been employed as the Lead Machinist for Riley Gear in North Tonawanda.  He was a member of Warrens Corners Methodist Church in Lockport.  His hobbies included Street Rods and photography. James was an all around great person who had a big heart and greeted everything in life with a smile. 

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Karen L. (nee Jones) Dunch, two daughters Joy Dunch and Andrea (James) Dunch, his grandson Lucas Blaser, a sister Beth Dunch, his brothers Thomas E. (Lydia) Dunch and David A. (Renee) Dunch, sister’s-in-law Kathleen M. (Wayne) Hill, Roberta L. Harper, and the late Marilyn (late Jack) Behm; and is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday from 3-7 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home 242 Genesee St. in Lockport where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28, at 10 AM.  Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in the Town of Cambria.
