Mary Lou Merchant passed away Saturday April 25, 2026 at Niagara Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Barker, NY on July 9, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Howard Elsworth and Almira Mae Gambel Ward. Mary Lou was a self-employed hairdresser for many years. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur R. Merchant Sr., who passed away September 20, 2018.
Mary is survived by her loving son Arthur R. (late Joanna) Merchant Jr. and was predeceased by her three siblings.
Private Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in Clarence Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Niagara Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
