James F. Blocher Jr of Middleport, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026 surrounded by his loving wife and close family.  

Born on January 6, 1964, to James F. Blocher and the late MaryEllen Blocher (Weber), James was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife Sally Blocher-Crean, children James (Giovanna) Blocher, III, Erin (Thomas Dhali) Blocher and Madelynn Hallows; cherished brother of Kathleen (Wayne Kummer) Blocher, Margaret Blocher and the late Kevin Blocher. Beloved Uncle, cousin and friend to many.

James found great fulfillment in his role as a Licensed NYS Botanist and running the Horticulture department at Home Depot for 26 years.  He lived for camping, hiking, and exploring the outdoors.  He thrived on sharing his passion and knowledge for nature with others.  James especially loved weeklong getaways to Allegany State Park and anywhere that took him from the busy suburbs to the secluded wilderness where he could be at peace with those closest to him.

James also had a love for classic rock, classical music and spending time in his garage and backyard oasis - where he maintained a local plant stand for neighbors and friends traveling by to experience and enjoy the same simple pleasures he did.

James took an interest in collecting vintage toys and going to local toys shows when he could.  But there were few things he enjoyed more than a cool night in his backyard enjoying a beatiful country sunset with a crackling bonfire surrounded by family and friends. 

A loving presence in the lives of several generations, James will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, April 7th from 4-7 PM at Prudden And Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport and a memorial service will be celebrated Wednesday, April 8th for dear family and his closest friends at 11 AM.
