Scott J. Read passed away suddenly August 8, 2025.  Born July 8, 1966 in Lockport he is the son of Mary (Read) Battle and Joseph McDowell.  Scott enjoyed bike riding, walking, fishing, was always willing to lend a helping hand, and loved spending time with his family.  He was predeceased by a brother James Read.

Besides his parents, Scott is also survived by his siblings Judy Hill, Norma Battle, Joseph W. Battle, Ruby Clayton, Russell Hamilton, Melissa Vasser, Stephanie McDowell, and Tonya McDowell; companion Awilda Brown; also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service Saturday, August 23rd at 11 AM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport.
