Karen Caton passed away Friday August 1, 2025 at Niagara Hospice House. Born in Buffalo on August 27, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Georgina Preston Rettke. Karen worked for many years in Customer Service for Tops Markets in Lockport. She enjoyed going for bike rides, listening to music, dancing and spending time with her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband David Caton, who passed away on April 28, 2016.
Karen was the mother of Amy (Russ) Bruning, Jennifer (Tom) Vorholzer and the late Heidi (Carl) Kustreba. She was the grandmother of Janelle, Thomas, Joe, Kaitlyn (Jeremy) Burgett, Megan (Austin) Smith and Olivia (Evan Birkemeier), Jeffrey Vorholzer, Jonathan Vorholzer; and great grandmother of Brayden, Niana, Henry, Mason and Eleanor. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Beside her husband and daughter, Karen is predeceased by her siblings, Gerald Rettke, Janet Strigos and Betty Leising; grandson Anthony Vorholzer.
There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 16th at 10 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 6540 Main Street, Williamsville. Private inurnment will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery. Memorials to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.
