Claire Simons Obituary

Claire Simons passed away July 27, 2025.  Born October 28, 1934 in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of Clyde and Claire (Hopkins) Curry.  Claire worked for the Niagara Wheatfield School District where she was a school nurse.  She was an active member of St. John the Baptist RC Church in Lockport where Claire was involved with the Altar & Rosary Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, served as Eucharistic Minister and lector, and sang in the parish choir.

Claire’s deep faith in God and Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life and a source of great strength and peace. She was also extremely proud of her Irish heritage, a connection she cherished throughout her life. She was fortunate to visit Ireland, a trip that brought her joy and a deeper appreciation for her roots.

Above anything else in this life, she cherished her family the most. She found joy in spending time with her two granddaughters, their partners, and her five great-grandchildren, and embraced every opportunity to be surrounded by loved ones—whether for a holiday, a family gathering, or a quiet visit. Her warmth, laughter, and love touched everyone who knew her, and her presence will be deeply missed by all whose lives she graced.

In her later years, Claire was lovingly cared for and faithfully supported by her dear companion, Ernie Tenney. His steadfast friendship and kindness brought her great comfort and joy, and his presence was a blessing to her and to those who loved her.

Claire is survived by her son William Simons; granddaughters Rachael (Anthony Dyer) Simons and Natalie (Warren) Teall; great-grandchildren Norah, Merideth, and Grant Teall, Ayden and Colton Dyer; sister Marlene (late Woodrow) Wolfe; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Louis Simons in 2004, brother Clyde Curry, and sister Rose Ann (late Gerald) Pavlak.
