Brenda S Fries Obituary

In Loving Memory of Brenda Fries

July 22, 1957 – July 5, 2025

Lockport, NY – Brenda Fries, beloved wife, mom, grandma, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Born in Buffalo, NY, on July 22, 1957, she was a spirited woman who lived a full and generous life rooted in compassion, humor, and love.

Brenda—affectionately known by her loved ones as Skipper—was known for her bright blue eyes and her brighter heart. She spent her early career at Mount View Nursing Home in laundry and cleaning, and later dedicated herself to serving the community through her work with Niagara County Meals on Wheels, where she eventually retired.

Her passions reflected a rich, creative spirit and a deep love for life’s small joys. Whether she was baking cookies, cross-stitching by the TV during her favorite crime shows, or doing her nails while watching Elvis specials, Brenda brought warmth and flair into everything she did. She was also an avid bowler, a proud member of local bowling leagues, and a master of extreme couponing—always finding joy in giving and saving.

She had a special love for animals, opening her heart and home to many adopted pets, both two- and four-legged. Her fridge was covered in a magnet collection that told the story of her journeys and those of the people she loved. And when Easter came around, she was excited to make her favorite seasonal candy.

Above all, Brenda loved her family deeply. She spent 42 cherished years with her husband, Joe Fries, marrying in 1997. She is survived by her devoted children, Suzanne Wick (Brian) and Robert Henn III, and by her adored grandchildren: Cody Smith, Hunter Wick, Caden Wick, and Hudson Wick. She was preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Hailey Henn, and her loving parents, Geraldine and Charles Miller Sr.

Brenda is also survived by her siblings: Charles Miller Jr. (Jeanne), Karen Walker (Earl), and Lisa Tripp (Rick), along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who will forever cherish her memory.

A graduate of Starpoint Central and a proud resident of Lockport, Brenda’s presence will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty continues in the lives of those she touched.

Friends may call on Wednesday July 9th 4-8 PM and Thursday July 10th 10-11 AM, where a Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 11 AM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to a local animal shelter or Meals on Wheels of Niagara County.
