Obituary of Philip R. Simons
Philip R. Simons entered into rest May 13, 2025, in Lockport Rehab & Health Care Center. Born August 27, 1942, in Lockport. He was the son of Gordon & Audrey (Whitney) Simons. Philip served in the US Air Force from 1962-1966 and worked for Harrison Radiator Division of GM for 30 years, retiring as a machinist.
Philip is survived by his life-long sweetheart & wife Christa M. (Nelson) Simons; children Shari A. (Robbie) Brounscheidel & Kevin (Lorie) Simons; grandchildren Joseph (Sarah), Trisha (Steven), Adam (Lauren), and Jason (Rachael); great grandchildren Alexa, Leah & Harper; Dylan, Ryan, Riley, & Paige; Bria, Nolan & Gavin; Julia, Delaney, & Gwendolyn. He was predeceased by his sister Sonja (late David) Raetz. He also leaves behind James (MaryLou) Nelson, several nieces, nephews & cousins, and many dear friends.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, his classic car & going to car shows, restoring antique boat motors, spending summers at their home in the 1000 Islands in Alexandria Bay and spending time with his family. He was very proud of being a Veteran in the US Air Force, he was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years, he enjoyed playing with his childhood trains - especially with the great-grandchildren during the Holidays, and he would always be looking for someone to give him cookies or sweets! Phil was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and also NASCAR. He also had a special love for dogs. Over the years, he helped many with fixing and/or teaching others about engines and motors and just about anything mechanical. Mostly, Phil was a great guy that had lots of stories to share, he was kind or sweet to everyone, and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
