Obituary of Arlene M. Sweet

Arlene M. Sweet passed away April 11, 2025. She was born on March 10, 1931 in Lockport, NY, daughter of Richard and Mildred (Kinsler) Neuman. Arlene was a secretary for the Lockport Chamber of Commerce (1948-1950) and for Simonds Saw and Steel (1950-1962), where she also worked in the restaurant with her mother and grandmother. In 1979 -1981 she went back to work in the main office at the Lockport Mall, and for the next twenty years worked first as an Examiner, and then as Deputy County Clerk for the Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring in 2000. Throughout these years, she enjoyed serving on the Vestry and Altar Guild at Grace Episcopal Church, and as Secretary of Lockport Chapter #73, Order of the Eastern Star.

Arlene is survived by her son Richard (Karen) Sweet; sister Shirley (late Richard) Hayden; nephews Robert (Kathy) Hayden, Thomas (Julie) Hayden, and Daniel (Cheri) Hayden.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St. Lockport. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday April 21st at 12 PM in Grace Episcopal Church, 100 Genesee St. Lockport.
