Obituary of Darlene A. Jefferson

Please share a memory of Darlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Darlene A. Jefferson, born November 12, 1964, suddenly began her journey into the spirit world on March 20, 2025. She was a member of the Cayuga Tribe, Bear Clan. Dar took great pride in her Indigenous Heritage. As of her last birthday, she was considered to be an elder in her community and she carried that title with such honor.

Darlene enjoyed her life to the fullest. She was the type of person to never let negativity keep her down. She had a carefree attitude and often lived by the phrase “hakuna matata” (no worries). Darlene would help anyone who needed help, without hesitation. She did not judge, and she accepted everyone. She truly had a heart of gold, an admirable trait. She worked as a CNA at Newfane Health Facility and ultimately settled into being a homemaker. Darlene enjoyed music (Usher was the best!), playing cards, her yearly vacation in the 1000 Islands and just being surrounded by those she loved. She was an avid lover of cats and dogs and always kept a couple of them in her home.

She grew up in Lockport but settled down in Burt, NY with her husband of 35 years, Tyrone. Together they raised 3 beautiful children: Mindy Kader, Travis Jefferson and Natasha Jefferson. Darlene loved her children beyond words, but her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Jamir, Aryonna, McKenzie, Joey, Carter, Landon and Brayden. Darlene’s world was all about her family, and she considered everyone she loved to be her family.

In addition to her husband and children, Darlene is survived by brothers; Carl (Debbie) Bachman and Donald Jimerson. Her second family, whom she loved immensely; Mother-in-law Annie Jefferson, Fred Jefferson Jr, Curtis Jefferson, Patricia Jefferson, and Christine Jefferson. She also leaves behind sister and best friend; Rona “Chop” Styres, as well as special daughter: Shatara Brown. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and many close friends. Darlene was predeceased by father-in-law: Fred Jefferson Sr and nephew: Darius Adair.

Darlene’s presence will be truly missed, but she left imprints on the souls of everyone she met, never to be forgotten.

Memorial service will be held on Friday March 28th at 11am at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home located at 242 Genessee Street Lockport NY 14094.
