Robert Duane Winters, 77, of Lockport, NY, passed away peacefully at Niagara Hospice with family by his side on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Robert was born in Lockport on January 17, 1947 to Herbert and Jayne Winters. He served in the United States Army from 1966 -1968 as a tank mechanic and was stationed in Fairbanks, AK. Returning from service, he and Victoria Ann Nubelo, of Lockport, were married in 1968. Robert began a 30-year career at Harrison Radiator Division of GM, from which he retired in 1998. Robert was a member of the U.A.W. and served several terms as a Trustee for Local 686.
Robert, known as Bob by family and friends, enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, deer hunting, wood working, antique car restoration (1952 Chevrolet), watching NASCAR races, attending dirt track races at Ransomville Speedway, and especially spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren on Lake Ontario.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Victoria Ann; daughter Annette (Larry) Lee of Fort Worth, TX.; daughter Angela J. Goodman of Lockport and son Robert J. Winters of Lockport; grandchildren Andrea (Nick) Allen of Lockport, Lauren Lee of Fort Worth, TX, and Ryan Winters of Lockport; brother David Winters of St.Petersburg, FL and sister Rhonda (Doug) Demmin of Dade City, FL., and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by grandson Andrew Goodman and great-grandson Aspen Allen.
Friends will be received at Prudden & Kandt funeral home on Monday, October 21st from 4 pm to 7 pm. Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 22nd at 11:00 am at North Ridge Cemetery in Ransomville. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Niagara Hospice at niagarahospice.org.
