George Muscato, Jr. Obituary

George V. Muscato, Jr., MD, age 85, passed away August 16, 2009 under the care of his family. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late George H. and Amelia (Distefano) Muscato, Sr., MD. Dr. George served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 and again from 1951 to 1952 earning the Victory Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. George graduated from St. Louis Medical School in 1948 and completed his internship at Sisters of Charity in Buffalo, NY. He then went to accomplish his residency at Milwaukee Children's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and then began working with his father in private practice. George then opened his own practice shortly after in Lockport specializing in Pediatrics for 60 years. He was Chief of Pediatrics with Eastern Niagara Hospital (Lockport site) for several years. Dr. George was honored as the Physician of the Year in 2008 for his dedication to this hospital. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, was an avid equestrian, and he loved his dogs. He was a member of All Saints Parish and several fraternal and service organizations.


George is survived by his wife Sandra (Fleming) Muscato of Lockport; father of Jennifer (Joel) Allen of Middleport, Kathryn Muscato of Winterset, IA, George V. C. (Julie) Muscato of Lockport, Thomas (Debbie) Muscato of Slaterville, NY, Nancy Muscato of Tampa, FL and Robert (Kathy) Muscato of Lockport. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. George is also survived by his sister Amelia M. Sommer of Lockport.


There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of his life during a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11 AM in All Saints Parish at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 76 Church Street, Lockport. Interment will be to the family's convenience in Cold Spring Cemetery. Dr. George spent his life caring for children. Services

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of his life during a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11 AM in All Saints Parish at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 76 Church Street, Lockport.


Interment

Interment will be to the family's convenience in Cold Spring Cemetery.
