Annie L Cheatham Smith, age 69 of Lockport, NY passed away peacefully February 27, 2021 following a long illness. She was born January 30, 1952 in Lockport NY. She was the beloved daughter of the late Roosevelt and Daisy Cheatham. Annie was married to the late Wade Smith in November 14, 1968. She is survived by her sons Wade Sr. (Joan) and Randy (Rachael), one stepdaughter Rachael Hunter. Annie is the grandmother of nine: Wade Jr., Raven, Corey, Randy Jr., Cameron, Chloe, Raymere McElwain, Alize Cooley and Ire White. Annie was blessed with one beautiful great-grandson Isiah. She was the beloved sister of the late Roosevelt, Randolph and Barbara Jo Pate. She leaves four brothers Richard, Ruben (Lola), Carl (Mary) and Ronald (Renee). Three sisters Rosie (Johnny)Mixon, Flora(Kenny) Hawkins and Daisy(Marc) Houston. She is loving Godmother of Marcia Lewis, PJ Harris and Mark Sanders. She is also leaving behind several in laws, with host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Her special niece, Cynthia Kiner that was with her during her sickness.

 Annie attended public schools in Lockport. She worked multiple jobs and retired from General Motors. After working for GM she became the “First Lady” of Living Outreach Ministry. She spent most of her life serving the Lord. She was former member of Friendship Baptist, Refuge Temple, Cathedral of Praise, New Born Fellowship, Living Outreach Ministry, Latter Rain Cathedral and Blessed Ministry. Annie loved sports. She enjoyed watching her sons and grandsons play whether it was football or basketball. She was crazy about all her grandkids and she was “Grandma Annie” to so many. Since retiring, Annie served as spiritual mentor and supporter for LNB’s “Young Men and Women of Character” program. She worked for the HANCI program and was a “beloved Grandmother” at Charles Upson School working with Mrs. Watier. She enjoyed attending Thursday’s luncheon for the seniors. Annie loved and look forward to attending her family reunions. She loved crossword puzzles, “Luther Vandross” and “LeBron James.” She was also known as “Sister Smith.” She was loved by all who met her and was part of her life. She would never say a bad word about anyone-just smiled. The word that most people would use to describe her is “Sweet” and that she was.

Relatives and friends may attend visitation hours 10 am - 12pm in Latter Rain Cathedral, 9 Bristol Ave., Lockport.  Private Service for the Immediate Family Only- Immediately following.  Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
