John J. Richter

John Jerome Richter “JACK” as he was called by his family passed away September 25, 2022 in Orchard Manor Nursing Home. Born September 9, 1952 in Sheboygan, WI he was the son of Gilbert and Lorraine (Rust) Richter. John earned his Culinary Arts Degree at University of Wisconsin at Madison and owned and operated his catering business, “John J. Richter Catering “ in Buffalo. He ran several food programs at various Schools and Camps in WNY including The Buffalo Seminary for over 25 years and most recently for 7 years at Camp Kenan in Barker, NY. He loved the performing arts and participated in several “Broadway at Sem” productions. He enjoyed fishing, playing scrabble, working on crossword puzzles, reading, writing, sketching, coaching badminton at the Buffalo Seminary, watching baseball and spending time with his family. He loved to travel to Arizona, Florida and his hometown in Wisconsin.

John was a deeply spiritual man and left a legacy of his faith in God to all that knew him. He often spoke of the “romantic” and “technical” facets of human life and how God used them in a perfect balance. He was overall a TEACHER of his culinary skill and his faith. He ministered to many people over his lifetime and was a man of unwavering generosity. Ultimately John was a Husband Father and Grandfather and everything he did in his life was for his family.

John is survived by his wife Mary Anne (Minto) Richter; children Jonathan, Joy (Brian Bailey), Reuben, Brooke (Michael Cammarata), and Drew (Savannah King) Richter; grandchildren Koen Jack, Tanner, and Charlotte Bailey, and Anthony Cammarata. Brothers, Joe Richter (Karen) of Sheboygan, WI, and Jerry (Janet) of Warrensburg MO. He is also survived by Nieces Renee, Danice, Heather, Chantel, Jessica and Nephews Brian, Tyler and Jeremy. Also Brother in Law Larry of Florida.
