Obituary of Joan E. Abbott

Joan E. Abbott passed away March 31, 2018 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.  Born in Lockport March 17, 1926 she was the daughter of Edward and Jane (Fitzgerald) Gaygen.  Joan worked for the City of Lockport for 30 years where she was a crossing guard.  She was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church, Lockport and enjoyed playing golf and competitive cards.  Joan was predeceased by her husband Richard W. Abbott on February 7, 2011.

Joan is survived by her children Rick Abbott, Anne (Thom) Hopkins, and Lisa Geiger; grandchildren Heather, Cori, Devon, Connor Abbott, Jason (Stacy) Hopkins, Krista (Darryl) Ernst, Brian (Allie) Hopkins, Marissa, Michael, McKenna, Maren, and Mailey Geiger; four great grandchildren; sister of the late Edward Gaygen and Mary Katherine ‘Babe’ Weber.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 5th from 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 6th at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.  Memorial donations to Diamonds in the Ruff, PO Box 332, Lockport, NY 14095 or to Lockport CARES, PO Box 586, Lockport, NY 14095 would be appreciated.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
