Obituary of J. Michael Fitzgerald

John Michael Fitzgerald passed away on December 31, 2017 in Niagara Hospice house. Born in Lockport on August 24, 1946, he was the son of the late John J. and Katherine Morris Fitzgerald. Mike earned his Bachelor Degree from Niagara University and then went on to earn his JD from the University at Buffalo School of Law. Mike practiced law in Lockport for nearly 40 years. He was an avid golfer and cherished time with friends, family, and above all, his grandchildren. Beside his parents, Mike is predeceased by his wife, Ellen Martin Fitzgerald, who passed away on August 26, 2010 and his step mother Betty Jane Fitzgerald. Mike is survived by his children, Michael (Adena) Fitzgerald and Katherine (R. Charles) Bell; grandfather of Alexis and Matthew Fitzgerald and Tommy and Abby Bell. John was the brother of Joanne Roberts, Maureen (Steve) Merchant and Daniel (Dorothy) Fitzgerald; step brother of Sandra (David) Harrington and James N. (Virginia O'Neil) Brewer. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday January 5th from 1-4 PM and 6-8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday January 6th at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. A private inurnment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kenmore, NY. In Lieu of flowers memorials to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or to Niagara Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Online Condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com.
