"The Shoe Man"
Vincent F. "The Shoe Man" Macaluso of Lockport, NY was born on September 8, 1938 and passed on July 1, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was the son of Samuel J. and Lena (Pusateri) Macaluso
Vince graduated in 1957 from Lockport Senior High School and had many friends that he remained in touch with for many years. He served in the National Guard in Echo Company for six years.
Vince had many passions. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and bowler. He enjoyed playing baseball in his youth and enjoyed playing the trumpet. He also enjoyed going to the casino, playing the ponies and playing poker. But his biggest love of all was being labeled "Lockport's Shoe Repairman" which he served for 68 years. He did a lot of special requests such as lowering heels, sewing rips, putting in zippers and doing leatherwork. He did some orthopedic as well. He loved being part of the Lockport business community. He was highly respected by several prominent individuals. The shop was a place that brought him great joy. He found comfort in being surrounded by the thing he loved to do and interacting with people. He enjoyed all of his customers and friends that visited him at the shop. He always had a smile on his face. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Vince "The Shoe" Macaluso's favorite saying was, "If you want to save your sole, walk on your heels."
