Marie L. Spencer passed away April 19, 2017 under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born March 9, 1928 in Long Island, NY she was the daughter of John S. and Helen E. (Hawes) Weeks. Marie worked as a clerk for JW Criswell Comp. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Terrys Corners Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, Gasport Eastern Star, and the Dale Association where she volunteered and participated in shows. Marie was a Buffalo Bills fan, enjoyed crocheting making several items for family and friends, camping, gardening and traveling. She was predeceased by her husband Merle Spencer in 2004, special companion Clarence Secord in 2013 and also by her daughter Kathleen Spencer. Marie is survived by her son Douglas (Liz) Spencer; sister of William (Mary) Weeks, Paula (Daniel) Watson and late Edward Weeks; sister-in-law of Alana Weeks; grandmother of Scott Spencer, Michele Wolf, and Jennifer Dudley Tappenbeck; great grandmother of ten and great-great grandmother of two; god mother of Darcy Watson Burnside; several nieces and nephews; loving caregivers Terri and Ray Bedford, Jill Eberhardt and Barbara Russell; also her beloved cat Carter who laid beside her until the very end. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, April 22nd from 11 AM – 1 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where services will follow at 1 PM. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. Memorial donations to Christ Episcopal Church or to Niagara Hospice would be appreciated. Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
