Gary L. Murphy, age 70, passed away Saturday September 17, 2016, under the care of Niagara Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lockport on September 16, 1946, he was the son of the late H. Kingsley and Janella Elser Murphy. Gary served in the US Marine Corps from 1966 until 1968. He worked at Harrison Radiator as a repairman and retired in 1999. Gary was an avid golfer, belonging to Shelridge Country Club for many years, and loved spending his winters in Florida. Gary is survived by his wife Sandra (nee Clark) Murphy; step father of Sharon (Keith) Dunker, Robert (Crystal) Jaquin, Bernard (Jenn) Lewis and the late Clark Lewis, who passed away in 2008; 10 step grandchildren. Gary was the brother of C. Kingsley (Mary) Murphy, Sandra Murphy and the late Dianne (Eugene) Reed. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Tuesday Sept. 20th 12-1 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, followed immediately by a prayer service at 1 PM. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to Niagara Hospice or the American Cancer Society, would be appreciated by the family.
