Richard F. "Dick" Ziehl passed away May 14, 2016. Born May 3, 1939 in Lockport, NY, he was the son of F. Floyd and Dorothy (Glasser) Ziehl. "Dick" was a graduate of Lockport High School and attended the University of Buffalo before joining his father in the family business, Ziehl Electronics Service as a communications engineer. Dick enjoyed being a Ham Radio Operator, member of L.A.R.A and spending time with his family.
Dick is survived by his wife Joan L. (Eckhardt) Ziehl; father of Jonathan R. (Kristi) Ziehl of Rochester, NY and Jennifer (Robert) Vacca of Franklin, MA; grandfather of Erik Ziehl and Henry Vacca; brother of Charles (Janet) Ziehl of Lockport and the late Barbara (John) Swift. He also is survived by nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2016 at 11 AM in Mount Olive Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials in Dick's memory to Mount Olive Church, Roswell Park Cancer Institute or Niagara Hospice.
