Velzie A. Laughlin passed away February 9, 2016 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born in Buffalo on December 13, 1931 he was the son of Andrew and Rachel (Tibbet) Laughlin. Velzie served in the US Navy and the Army in both Vietnam and Korea being awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Bronze Star, serving more than 20 years. And he also worked for Diamond Shamrock which became Occidental. Velzie is survived by his wife of 60 years Helen (Dunn) Laughlin of Lockport; father of Sylvia (late David) Willhite, Debbie (Mike) London, Sharon (Andy) Kostic, and Helen (late Charles) Martin; grandfather of eleven and three great grandchildren; predeceased by his siblings David (Esther) Laughlin, Ronald (Candy) Laughlin, Daniel (Joyce) Laughlin, June (late Walter) Schultz, and Beulah (late Joe) DeLelio; also several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Friday, Feb. 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 13th at 11 AM.
