James "Jim" H. Castle died February 2, 2016. Jim was born September 2, 1925 in Lockport to George (Casey) Castle and Catherine Sharkey. He attended Lockport High School and graduated from the University of Buffalo after serving 3 years in the Navy in the Pacific Theater. Jim worked at Castles Dairy and later at Dairylea Cooperative. In 1950 he married Norma Jean "Mudge" Heiberger. She died in 1968. His second wife, Mary Hoffman, died in 1997. Jim is survived by his sister Suzanne O'Connor (Robert); his children Susan Castle (Henry Coffey), Molly Peer Conley (Greg), Joseph M. Castle (Karen); his grandchildren Gabriel and Sophie Barenberg, Joseph D. Castle, Deanna Hebeler (Robert), James M. and Amy Castle; his great grandchildren Owen and Abigail Hebeler and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving him is his long-time friend Doris Fabian. His son Daniel and his siblings Margaret, Patricia Po-Chedley, Dorothy Krauser, Peter, Catherine (Totchie) Capen and Cecelia Buzyniski all predeceased him. He was a parishioner of St. John's and a member of the American Legion, VFW, Elks, AOH and founded the Lockport Woodworkers. He was a passionate golfer, woodworker and outdoorsman. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, Feb. 6th from 1-6 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Feb. 8th at 10 AM in St. John's Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment in Cold Springs Cemetery.
