Henry C. Herring, Sr. passed away September 25, 2015 in Eastern Niagara Hospital. Henry was born October 20, 1928 in Moultrie, Georgia, the son of Rommy and Geneva Bryant Herring. He worked at Simmons Saw and Steel from 1952 to 1984 retiring after 32 years under the Guterl Steel name. Henry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was articulate, artistic and an accomplished saxophone player. Loving Jazz as he did he was a former member of the Mellow Men Jazz Band. He was a devout Christian belonging to the Latter Rain Cathedral, C.O.G.I.C. and was an extraordinary handyman. Henry is survived by his wife Carsee Vinson Herring; father of Anita Branche, Charlotte Herring-Jones, Ronald Herring all of Columbus, Ohio, Joyce Herring, Clayton Herring, Renee (Ronald) Cheatham, Terry Herring all of Lockport and the late Henry C, Herring, Jr.; brother of Mary Alice Wilson of Tampa, FL. and the late Lois Dixon, Leo Herring, Leroy Herring and Alice Mae Irving. Henry is also survived by 21 Grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, brother and sister in laws, cousins and dear friends. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday September 29,2015 in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 11 AM in The Latter Rain Cathedral, South 9 Bristol Ave. Lockport, NY. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to the American Lung Association in New York, 700 Veterans Highway, Hauppauge, NY 11788 would be appreciated by the Family.
